BOTOX® (Botulinum Toxin Type A) Purified Neurotoxin Complex is a
vacuum-dried form of purified botulinum toxin type A.
Intramuscular injections of BOTOX® typically result in a dose-dependent
reduction of hyperactive muscle contraction under the skin, which causes
wrinkles. The wrinkle free area lasts for approximately 3 - 6 months and
is ultimately reversible. With BOTOX® , response is sustained, repeatable,
and predictable. BOTOX® has a 10-year history of proven response. BOTOX®
Purified Neurotoxin Complex is believed to produce its therapeutic effect
by acting selectively on peripheral cholinergic nerve endings to inhibit
the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine at the neuromuscular
junction.
